About & sources
The Religion Brief is an automated brief on personal finance. A scheduled job reads the feeds listed below, merges any stories that several outlets are covering into a single entry, and writes a short summary in our own words. We never reproduce the publisher's article text — every entry links straight to the original reporting, and headlines remain the property of the publisher.
Editorial rules
- Short original summaries only (target 45 words), plus a one-line "why it matters".
- Automatic check that no twelve-word span is shared with the source text.
- New stories can be held for review before they appear.
- Corrections, removals and takedown requests: see the contact below — we act on them promptly.
Advertising
Sponsored placements are labelled "Sponsored" and are never styled to look like editorial. They are limited to one unit per five feed items, one per story and one sidebar unit, and no pop-ups or interstitials are used. Ads link to CrowdfundShowcase listings and are marked as such.
How this site works, and what it covers
This site reports on religion and spirituality as news: institutions, communities, scholarship, ethics and religion in public life. It is written from religion newsrooms and it is neutral between traditions.
- A tradition’s teaching is a claim, not a fact. We report what a body teaches or what believers hold as that body’s position, and never as an established truth. That applies to every tradition equally.
- We do not publish devotional material, prayers, sermons or guides to belief or practice, and we do not tell anyone what to believe.
- An accusation is not a conviction. Accounts of alleged abuse are reported as allegations; a conviction is reported as a conviction, with the court it came from. We never identify a victim or an accuser, we never publish abuse detail, and we never name anyone under 18.
- We do not promote or denigrate any religious group.
- Partisan politics is not our subject. A religious body’s own action is news; an election campaign is not.
Where the reporting comes from, and an honest limitation
Our sources are religion newsrooms. Most religion journalism that publishes a feed is Christian or Jewish, and the broad multi-tradition wires are few — we carry the one that exists. Muslim and Buddhist outlets in this space publish devotionally rather than as reporting, or offer no feed at all, so our feed list is narrower than our coverage: the multi-tradition wire is what carries stories from traditions the other sources do not cover.
